With relatively mature technology,current monitoring techniques of icing ontransmission line based on a basic principle of weighing method is simple, straightforward,which is widely used in domestic on-line monitoring system of icing on overheadline.Though disaster (icing) early warning system of China Southern Power Gridtransmission line had straight tower calculating model based on weighing method,it did notconsider specific effects of angles, tension sensor error, number and vertical span,withoutproposing tension tower calculating model and considering effects of variousfactors.Therefore, straight tower model is imperfect and monitoring system of icing cannotmonitor tension tower icing.Firstly, monitoring system of icing in China Southern Power Grid and its problems areintroduced by this paper. Because of imperfect straight tower model used in monitoringsystem of icing, it refines as I string, double I string, V string, double V-string and eight-string type. And straight tower model affecting factors including wind angle, tilt angle,tension sensor error, vertical span and tension sensor number are analyzed. Because of alack of tension tower calculating model in monitoring system of icing, this paper presentstheoretical model and simplified calculation model, and tension of different positions, windangle and ruling span about three factors that affect calculation of icing are carried outresearch under different icing states respectively to verify accuracy of simplified calculationmodel. Finally, comparison of image and ice thickness curve indicates straight tower modeland tension tower model have good application effect and model problem and solution inapplication are introduced.When analysing affecting factors of icing model, model parameters,different voltagelevel transmission lines, wire tension under designing condition and icing conditions are va-rious so that they all cannot be analysed.Therefore general conclusion need to be improved.
