Concrete continuous beam bridge have many advantages such as less deck joints, strongintegrity, beautiful appearance, convenient maintenance and so on,which is widely used inthe long-span bridges, curved bridge and the narrow bridge, in the construction of urbantraffic and high-speed rail also extensively used. With the increasing of traffic volume, theproblem of torsion and mechanical stability of the concrete thin-walled box girder structure isbecoming more and more attention of the researchers and designers.This paper will discuss the torsion problem and mechanical stability of concretethin-walled box girder space. From the free torsion theory, systematically present the torsiontheory of thin-walled box girder. Analyzed the important part of box girder torsion thedistortion effect. Using variety of analysis methods for the example and comparing theresults,deepen the understanding of the theory. Using ANSYS software SHELL63unit tosimulate a real bridge engineering, find the stress and strain and distortion effect produced bythe restrained torsion when the multi span box girder bridge under a variety of eccentric loadcondition. Analyze the torsion and distortion of box girder bridges in three-dimensional space,discusses the influence factors of torsion and distortion effect of bridge, draw the finalconclutions such as the relationship between the distortion effect with box constraints, the boxgirder section point, the size of box girder; the diaphragm control on the distortion of boxgirder and so on.In addition, this paper combines the method of torsion analysis theory, analyze the lateralstability of multi span continuous box girder bridge with single pier. When the overload ratiois2times larger, the bridge stability safety coefficient decreases along the curve and changesrapidly. Summarize the influence factors on the stability of box girder bridge and puts forwardsome improvement measures and suggestions on how to prevent the accidents about this kindof bridge especially the overall bridge overturning.The main innovation of the article as follows:1.Specify the different theories and methods to solve the problems of the box girdertorsion and distortion. Through analysis and comparison, put forward suggestions of thesuitability of different methods and scope of application, which has practical significance.2.Using SHELL63element to analysis whole bridge structure, the effect is significant.Comparing with the date of finite element analysis and classical theory, draw the conclusionsand rules. 3. From the "space","whole" view to analysis the lateral stability of multi-span singlevariable cross-section box-girder, Summarize the influence factors on the stability of boxgirder bridge and puts forward some improvement measures and suggestions on how toimprove this type of bridge.
