In this paper, according to the characteristics of the existing road surface frictioncoefficient measuring instruments, such as the portable pendulum tester’s slow speed, lowaccuracy, cannot be measured continuously and the special vehicles’ expensive costs ofmeasurement and maintenance. A new device of practical, efficient, continuous measurementto measure the coefficient of friction was designed. The device can be friction coefficient;vehicle speed information displayed in real time and can be stored in the measurement data asneeded.Firstly, according to the mechanical structure and the stress of the frictioncoefficient-measuring instrument analyzes the principle of measure the coefficient of friction.Then theoretical calculation of the coefficient of friction has been deduced, finally, the overallscheme measurement system proposed according to the technical requirements of themeasurement system.The hardware design of the measuring system includes a torque sensor, speed sensordesign, sensor signal acquisition, conditioning circuit, data processing display modulehardware circuit design, and data storage module, power module, and schematic diagram ofthe measurement system drawing, printed circuit board design, component welding. Wherethe data acquisition, processing and display, memory modules are the STC15F2K60S2microcontroller as the master chip, while between these modules via microcontroller serialdata exchange. Data can be stored in the data storage module via the USB interface.The software design includes the microcontroller programming of modules for dataacquisition, data processing and showing, data storage, and the software programming for thedate processing of the storage test data files, and finally complete the joint debugging ofhardware and software.
