At present, diesel engine has possessed dominant position in the marine power industry,because of the complexity of its structure, amounts of its accessories and bad workingconditions, the possibility of diesel engine’s break down is very high which will causeenormous economic losses and threat the staff’s personal safety. As the development of themeasurement and fault diagnosis technique, more and more importance are attached to theonline monitoring system of the marine diesel engine. In order to make diesel engine morereliable and efficient, online monitoring system has significant meaning which can detectthe potential fault, reduce the maintenance costs, lower servicemen’s labor intensity.In this paper, the structure, working procedure and monitoring technique of16VPA6medium-speed engine are researched, a set of marine diesel engine monitoring system basedon embedded technology is established after analyzing the exist monitoring systems. On thebasis of exist marine diesel engine monitoring system, PAC, human-computer interface andauxiliary devices are used to monitoring crank pin oil temperature and cylinder pressure aswell as other parameters of the marine diesel engine in real-time, after analysis and process,these parameters are displayed and restored in the local human-computer interface andremote monitoring computer.The monitor program which consists of data acquisition module, monitor and alarmmodule, data communication module, display module and data memory module is designedby LabVIEW software. Through this program, the crank pin oil temperature and cylinderpressure are collected as well as other parameters, the oil temperature is compared with thealarm limit to judge whether to alarm or not, beyond that, combustion process indicatordiagram, rate of heat release, explosion pressure are gathered.The marine diesel engine monitoring program is verified and analyzed by experimentswhich results indicate this monitoring program is of good function. The working conditionof diesel engine is monitored, the parameters are collected, analyzed, displayed and restored,lays the foundation of subsequent fault diagnosis.
