Compared with gasoline, kerosene has characteristics such as high flash point, high viscosity, weak volatile, not easily firing and high safety performance. Therefore it’s significant to research onSI kerosene piston engine. But the kerosene engine has a difficulty in cold start as its poor atomizationand low burning rate, so it requires a large amount of ignition energy; at the same time, ignitionenergy has important influence on the engine performance, so it’s very necessary to research the bestignition energy of different working conditions. In this thesis, a two-stroke gasoline engine was fueledby kerosene, and the preliminary research on the ignition energy of cold start and steady workingconditions. The main work was as follows.(1) The numeric model of kerosene engine based on the GT-Power Software was built in thepaper. Then the minimum ignition energy at different working conditions was calculated by usingGT-Power and the mathematical model of calculating the minimum ignition energy, so theoreticalbasis for the kerosene was proposed in the best ignition energy.(2) In order to study the different ignition energy for engine cold starting and steady-stateperformance, ignition systems need to provide stable and adjustable ignition energy. Then design theordinary car inductive ignition system and high-energy ignition system, so that the ignition energy canreach above270mJ.(3) In order to achieve the accurate control of engine ignition energy, the kerosene engineignition ECU was designed based on the Freescale16bit microcontroller including the design ofhardware circuit and control software. The designed ECU has many advantages such as the ability ofanti-electromagnetic interference, self-protection and running stably. For improving the reliability ofECU, some anti-interference measures related with both hardware and software were adopted.(4) Engine starting performance was tested on engine test bench, then get the minimum ignitionenergy and engine cylinder preheating temperature, as well as the engine cold start conditions suitableignition energy range; And minimum ignition energy of steady working condition also was tested, thetesting results shows that the theoretical results is effective, and then get the ignition energy controlMAP through the engine ignition energy calibration test.
