This paper research on one new type of maglev bogie with three-point support, this maglev bogiewill be used in the maglev moving sidewalks system which is being developed by our research group.Mechanical structure of the new maglev bogie was introduced in this paper simply. Throughtheoretical analysis, fully electromagnetic support structure and passive orientation way was adoptedin this new maglev bogie. Based on mechanical structure and supporting method of the new maglevbogie, its working principle was introduced while it was suspended on track operating in variousconditions. Three types of electromagnets’ installation mode were compared in this paper andun-dislocation installation method was chosen finally. In this paper, closed-circuit track that the newmaglev bogie can cross smoothly was designed based on every parameter of the bogie, and it wascomposed of straight-line segments, arc segments, transition curve segments which curvatureincreases gradually connecting straight-line segment and arc segment. While designing the arcsegment, its key parameter is radius of the arc segment track’s center circle. While designing thetransition curve segment, type and length of transition curve segment track’s centerline should bedetermined. Considering geometric constraints between the maglev bogie and track, force balance ofthe bogie, stability of the suspending control system while the new maglev bogie works on theclosed-circuit track, through theoretical calculation and analysis can find out that the minimum radiusof the arc segment track’s center circle is about1.1meters, choose sine curve as transition curvesegment track’s centerline and its minimum length is about2meters.Experimental system was designed and assembled for the new maglev bogie’s static levitation,and the new maglev bogie was suspended on the closed-circuit track stably by adjusting parameters inthe suspending control system. Measurement experiment about the new maglev bogie’s lateral forceand its bearing capacity were executed on this experimental system. Variation curve of the newmaglev bogie’s lateral force to the variation of the new maglev bogie’s position can be obtained fromexperiment and the largest load that the new maglev bogie can bear is about13.1kilograms.
