In recent years, the mining industry of our country is developing rapidly. Therefore, asthe major transport and the key of high efficient operations of mining industry, the heavymining truck become more and more popular. Because heavy mining truck often work inextreme environment, the requirement of truck’s suspension is very strict. With distinguishedcharacteristic of shock absorbing, hydro-pneumatic suspension commendably meets thedemand of mining truck. Therefore, the study of hydro-pneumatic suspension has greattheoretical significance and application value.This paper summarized the advantages and disadvantages of different kinds ofhydro-pneumatic suspensions, took gas chamber hydro-pneumatic suspension of heavy truckas the research object, introduced the structure and operating principle detailedly, establishedits mathematical model and AMESim simulation model. And based on it, the influence wasresearched and summarized, which was the structural parameters and operatingparameters onthe displacement and velocity characteristics of hydro-pneumatic suspension.Then, the paper further studied the stiffness and damping characteristics ofhydro-pneumatic suspension and summarized the regulation of the influence about differentparameters on the suspension’s stiffness and damping characteristics. Moreover, the paperprovided general methods to design stiffness of hydro-pneumatic suspension according torequirements of natural frequency of vehicle body and to select damping of hydro-pneumaticsuspension according to performance index requirements of passive suspension damper.Based on the demand, the paper came up with a primary project of structural parameters andproofed it accordingto the methods.Analyzing the whole car’s dynamics, the1/2vehicle dynamics simulation model withtime-domain simulation model of road surface as input was built up. Through computersimulation, the influenced of the hydro-pneumatic suspension on the ride comfort was studiedand analyzed.According to the evaluation index of ride comfort, a time-domain frequency weightingfilter was designed, and optimal design model that used the root mean square value of bodyvertical acceleration as the objective function and used suspension’s dynamic travel andrelative dynamic wheel load as constraint conditions was established. Combining AMESimwith Matlab, a genetic optimization arithmetic was programmed to optimize structuralparameters of hydro-pneumatic suspension system. The results show that the vehicle ridecomfort was significantly improved, which also provided references for the hydro-pneumatic suspension design and optimization.
