The advantage of the shield tunnel makes it widely used in urban metro construction,and the underground rail transit construction will be pushed to a climax with the furtherdevelopment of urban underground space. However, the issue on the repair and reinforcementof metro shield tunnel is becoming more and more prominent. Metro shield tunnel in acomplicated engineering geological conditions will change the stress of shield tunnelstructure under the external impact, and may lead to excessive lateral deformation of shieldtunnel, causing segment crack, joint open, bolt failure phenomena, and then induce tunneldiseases.Tunnel diseases bring potential safety hazard to the normal operation of the tunnel,and even cause serious accident and heavy losses. Therefore, metro shield tunnel structurereinforcement is of great significance. Currently, the lateral deformation of metro shieldtunnel is mainly reinforced by steel plates, but the study on reinforcement of metro shieldtunnel is less, and how to analyze the reinforcement effect is yet to be studied.Taking projects of the metro shield tunnel reinforced by steel plates as the backgroundand the study on numerical test, the corresponding numerical model is established andanalyzed under typical conditions. Then the reinforcement effect of metro shield tunnelreinforced by steel plates is researched later.The main works of this paper are as follows:(1) Summarizes the research present situation and the reinforcement of structurecharacteristics of shield tunnel. This paper briefly describes the development of thereinforcement technology of reinforced concrete structures that reinforced by steel plates andthe status quo of numerical test.(2) Based on the engineering practices of metro shield tunnel reinforced by steel plates,combined with related functions and features of MIDAS/FEA, the corresponding numericaltest model is established.(3) Based on engineering practice and needs of research, the series of typical workingconditions of the numerical test study are determined. Combined with the results of numericalcalculation, the stress and deformation law of reinforced and unreinforced structure undertypical working conditions are analyzed. And then the reinforcement effect of the structure is analyzed.(4) According to the needs of practical engineering, on the basis of the analysis ofcharacteristics of structural failure, control indicator of the lateral deformation of shieldtunnel structure is analyzed, the ovality. Finally, the stress state and reinforcement effect ofthe structure of metro shield tunnel under different ovality are analyzed and applied topractical engineering.
