With the increasing demand of energy, Electricity,as a clean secondary energy, plays amore and more important role in our daily lives. As the increasing demand for powerand thescale of power grid expand continually, which brings new challenges to power systemoperation. Economy, as one of the four basic requirements for modern power systemoperation, has been studied and researched concentratly by electricity workers and researchers.Reasonable power system operation optimization method will bring huge economic andenvironmental benefits to the whole society.Firstly, this paper present a linear economic dispatch model, and analyse the error. Theerror of secant linearization of generator’s quadratic consumption curve is infact very small.And we applied this conclusion to the unit commitment problem based on MIP. We alsoanalysed how to determine the optimal tariff of the system based on linear programmingduality principle economic significance.Secondly, we present a non-linear DC-OPF problem, which is augmented from thestandard DC-OPF problem with a penalty function on the sum of the squared voltage angledifferences. The augmented modle is a strictly convex quadratic programing problem, throughthis model we can get solution values for locational margin prices,voltage angles directlyrecoerd along with solution values for real power injections and branch flows.And we concludthat the real power on a transmission line is a linear combination of generators’ real poweroutput of the system while the net losses ignored.Finally, a unit commitment problem based on MIP is proposed. inorder to simulateHainan power grid energy structure, which contains thermal power, hydropower, nuclearpower, wind power, gas power and pumped storage units. We show how Lagrange relaxationsolve this problem and analyze how branch and bound algorithm and cutting plane algorithmwork on integer programming problem.Then use the preamble conclusionsin in the MIPproblem, simulate the unit commitment problem on real date.Formate a viable startup andshutdown schedule and the optimal real power output of each generator.
