Pre-stressed anchor cable is a self-locking structure which can make the most ofsoilbearing capacity to reinforce soil actively. In recent years, while pre-stressed anchor cable hasbeen developing rapidly in mining, tunnel, bridge, slope and deep excavationengineering, thetheoryresearch about pre-stressed anchor cable, especially on stress time-depended losses, isfall behind the engineering practice. With the high-speed development of our country’seconomy, highway network must be sustainableextending. Therefore, the research on stresstime-depended losses of anchor cable in slope reinforcement has a considerable realisticsignificance. After collecting and analyzing many literatures, the development of pre-stressed anchorcablewas introduced in this paper. The research status of stress time-depended losses of anchorcablewas described to summarize some viable measures to avoid time-depended losses.Secondly, a long-term monitoring data of pre-stressed anchor cable retaining wall inGuangzhou-zengcheng highwaywas analyzed and proved the catholicity ofstresstime-depended losses. On account of the software FLAC3D being widely applied ingeotechnical engineering, a finite difference numerical model was proposaled to simulate thestress time-depended losses of anchor cable. This numerical modelwasverified by a laboratorytests. Finally, because the field of stress caused by pre-stressed anchor cable is the key point toguarantee reinforcement effect, the maximum axialcrushing stress and maximum axialdisplacementof before and after stress time-depended losses were analyzed. Results show thatthe reinforcement effectis greatly affected by stress time-depended losses.A numerical modelof pre-stressed anchor cable retaining wall in Guangzhou-zengchenghighway wasproposaled to simulate slope forces after stress time-depended lossesof anchorcable happened. It proved that the slope was in a stable state and the method which is using asafety factor to improve the reliabilityof pre-stressed anchor cable retaining wall in thestandard is viable.Analysis of numerical simulation results indicate that even if the stress remains, thereinforcement effect is still affected by groutstrength, grout dosage and camber in aanchorcable hole.
