Along with the bridge structure shows a more and more important role in moderneconomic life, at times of earthquake, ensuring the safety of the bridge structure becomes aproblem to be solved at present. Under the action of earthquake, the pier structure is the mostprone to damage as the part of bridge structure, so exploring new pier form has better seismiccapacity becomes a research focus for scholars at home and abroad. The core of reinforced concrete column is a new type of composite structure, theapplication in architectural structure has made significant progress, and achieved good results, but in the bridge structure which has not been used. In view of the above reasons, this paperusing the finite element analysis software SeismoStruct, analyzes the seismic performance forcore reinforced concrete bridge piers, and explores the feasibility of core concrete pier inpractical engineering. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:(1) This paper first introduces the SeismoStruct software, and verifies the correctness ofSeismoStruct software in analyzing the seismic performance for reinforced concrete structuresaccording to the existing research results.(2) Through analyzing three kinds of cross section which are commonly used in bridgepier structure, this paper verifies the superiority of reinforced concrete pier in seismicperformance.(3) In this paper, the writer has designed a variety of core concrete piers with differentparameters, and contrastingly analyzed the main parameters on seismic performance of coreconcrete bridge pier, such as the axial compression ratio, the slenderness ratio, thelongitudinal reinforcement ratio, core area, core column area, core column stirrup ratio.(4) The paper is not only conduct an analysis of the impact of various parameters on theseismic hysteretic behavior of core concrete pier, but also the impact of reinforcement layoutof rectangular cross-section.
