With the implementation of the western development strategy in our country and theextension of mountainous highway, the loess slope problems highlighted in highwayconstruction.Slope is the most vulnerable in the process of highway construction andoperation, the protection afforestation is the emphasis of the highway ecologicalconstruction and safety operation. Study on the loess soil erosion mechanism andecological protection technology in the highway slope has a great significance to improvethe ecological environment of the highway and guarantee the life and property safety in theprocess of highway construction and operation. In this paper, relied on the open topic funds of study on the influence of dry-wet,freeze-thaw cycles for loess slope erosion and the adaptability of grass-mud protection, through collecting data and field investigation, the loess highway slope erosion mechanismis systematically studied from the slope erosion causes and influence factors of the loesshighway slope erosion. The protective mechanism of grass-mud protection, the reasonablemixing ratio and its adaptability are studied with a large number of indoor tests andsimulated rainfall erosion tests. Tests research show that: the cohesive force, internalfriction angle of grass-mud materials grow with the increasing of the straw content, age,and lime content, the growth trend of cohesive force is more obvious than that of internalfriction angle; the permeability coefficient reduces with the increasing of straw content andlime content; the disintegration rate of grass-mud material reduces with the increasing ofthe straw content and age, reasonable lime content can reduce the disintegration rate; theanti-scouring coefficient of grass-mud materials is larger than that of undisturbed loess, theanti-scouring coefficient grows with the increasing of the straw content and age, alsoslightly grows with the increase of the lime content; compared with bare loess, the erosiondamage with the grass-mud protection is smaller, and the erosion-resistance effect is better;grass-mud protection has good adaptability and durability with the continuous heavy rainand different gradient; when the straw content is800g/m2,and the lime content is5%, theprotective effect of grass-mud materials is best.
