With the rapid development of transportation industry, the constructions of the largespan tunnel grows both at home and abroad. There are few researches on related problems oflarge span tunnel currently, especially for the engineering experience of the large span tunnelfault. The extension of the tunnel span will inevitably influence stability of surrounding rockand supporting form. So in the construction of the tunnel, it is important theoretical andengineering significance to study the functions and deformation characteristics of those rocksnear the fault fracture zones, which is caused by the complicated pressed system of thelarge-span tunnel.Combined with scientific research project“The research on the Southern mounting areahighway tunnel construction safety guarantee long-term stability and structural technology”,and based on the large-span tunnel in Guangxi, firstly, it monitors those rocks with the help ofpressure cells, surface strains gages, steel-string transducers, concrete strain meters. This papermakes a comparison between the common section test and the fault fracture zone in thesection test. Then it makes a further analysis of the functions and deformation characteristicsof those rocks under the complicated pressed system of the large-span tunnel and thebeginning of the line and two lining structure load sharing ratio.Secondly, it uses ANSYS to make a numerical analogue simulation for the process ofexcavation and construction about fault fracture zone of the large span tunnel. to draw aconclusion of structure of surrounding rock stress and the distribution characteristics, analysisof simulation results. Finally, based on the result of analysing the spot component testing and the finiteelement numerical simulation, it summarizes the function of fault fracture zone ofsurrounding rock in large span tunnel lining load and deformation laws to guide theconstruction of tunnels. Besides, it offers some constructing and design experiences to thetunnel construction in similar condition on one day, so it of great value.
