“Waterlogging” phenomenon occurred frequently in many cities of China with thedevelopment of economy and urbanization in recent years. The short-duration and heavyrainfall seriously affected the life of people. Concerning the serious issues, it was extremelyimportant to ascertain the storm intensity formula, which should accord with patterns of localrainfall, and it could be important for scientifically designing urban drainage systems.In this paper, storm intensity formula of Ansai County was ascertained and designedaccording to the annual maximum method. In the background of VisualC++, aimed at theeffect of currently urban climate change to storm drainage system, seamless connection ofstorm intensity formula software and electronic rainfall data of weather bureau was realizedaccording to information of Meteorology and Hydrology Department.The overseas and domestic research status of storm intensity formula was analyzed anddiscussed in this paper, and then advantages and disadvantages of storm intensity formuladerivation were summarized. Through the process, the technical route of storm intensityformula derivation that was suitable for Ansai County was established. Three frequencydistribution curve models of Exponential distribution, Pearson-Ⅲdistribution and Gumbeldistribution were fitted to decide the sample frequency distribution curve that could greatlymatch the local situation. With comparison, the derived storm auintensity formula might bereasonable, accurate and error minimization.With21a rainfall data of Ansai county and advanced international experience of stormintensity formula derivation, the storm intensity formula software system of Ansai Countywhich adopted annual maximum value method was designed in this paper. Furthermore,highly precise and widely used rainstorm intensity general formula and single recurrenceinterval integration formula were decided. This research results provided a good scientificbasis and reference for the design and construction work of water drainage network of AnsaiCounty.
