In photovoltaic cell and wind power generation technology, its volatility and stochastic become the main constraints limited the large-scale of new energy power generation. Micro grid combine with energy storage technology is considered to be the effective measures to solve this problem. In the many of large-scale storage elements, Vanadium redox flow battery (VRB) as a new energy storage battery, because of its variable advantages, it has a wide application prospect in micro grid, has become a hot topic in the field of new energy. Based on the energy storage unit of VRB auxiliary power grid work as the main body, carry out research work as follows:This paper first introduces the domestic and foreign research situation of micro grid. List the important role of energy storage technology in micro grid, analyse and compare the advantages and disadvantages of several common energy storage technology, and combine with the advantage of the application of vanadium redox flow battery, analyse its feasibility as large power energy storage element in micro grid.Introduce the basic principle of vanadium redox flow battery, compare the VRB with several classical model, AC impedance model, the three order model with branch current and equivalent loss system model. The paper finally determines the equivalent loss system model, and establishes the electrical model of VRB. Build its simulation model. And with the constant current to charge and discharge the battery model and obtained the voltage change curve of VBR in the process.Bidirectional converter as a bridge between the power system and energy storage system, directly related to the energy storage system reliability. The paper chooses the three-phase Voltage Source PWM Rectifier. Analyse and introduce the basic principle of rectifier, In order to realize the control goal, firstly establish the detailed mathematical model, And determine the energy storage system adopt constant power control in the micro grid operation, Islanding operation uses constant voltage/constant frequency control. Focus on the design of the implementations of two kinds of control. And establish the model in the Matlab and make a simulation. Test the feasibility of the control method in the two mode of operation. It has certain use value for the stable operation of micro grid.
