Asphalt pavement is the most common surface material of urban road andhighway road.When it is applied widely,all sorts of damage caused by hightemperature also restricts its development in many aspects. The aim of this paper isto study the asphalt surface temperature performance effect and feasibility analysisby special methods that phase change materials is added to the asphalt concrete.Frist, starting from the characteristics of phase change latent heat of phasechange materials itself, from consideration of the phase change latent heat ofphase change materials value, stability and so on many aspects, this study choosesone or several kinds of phase change materials whose various performance areeligible relatively. Then by different load encapsulation method, prepares tocomposite phase change materials in order to ensure minimal impact on othermechanical properties of asphalt. Through comparison the simulated illumination ofspecimens and based on the temperature changing test by adding compositephase change materials to asphalt concrete, the result of this experiment is thatcomposite phase change materials plays an influential role in changing temperatureof asphalt concrete under high temperature environment.Results of rutting test and immersion Marshall test on asphalt concrete mixedwith complex phase change material show that Marshall stability and dynamic stability are capable to meet the requirements, myristic acid is the best complex phase change material on mechanical property and performance of cooling the asphalt concrete. This paper first presents the method that uses bulk method calculation to evaluate asphalt concrete mixed with complex phase change material.Major findings of this study:The method that phase change materials is addedto the asphalt concrete can have an effective regulated function on the pavementunder the environment of high temperature; by method of load encapsulation, thepavement performance standard of asphalt concrete can be basically satisfied.
