The chimney belongs to tall buildings. The safety of this structure is not onlythe collapse of the structure itself, but also the threat to the surrounding buildings,which can cause serious economic losses and heavy casualties. Especially when theearthquake occurs, it will affect the function of earthquake relief lifeline. Therefore,it is necessary to analyze the seismic response of chimney structure by the finiteelement method.The new reinforced concrete de-chimney integrative chimney is proposed inthis paper. And the structure design and the finite element analysis of this structureare carried out. Based on the safety and reliability of this structure, its seismicperformance has been studied in detail. And the comparative analysis between thisnew structure and the conventional reinforced concrete chimney is conducted. Themain contents include:1. The new reinforced concrete chimney is designed based on the data about theexisting reinforced concrete chimney and the relevant building codes. For the twokinds of reinforced concrete chimney, the finite element model is established, andthe modal analysis and the influencing factors analysis of the dynamic responses iscarried out.2. The static analysis of the two reinforced concrete chimneys has been conductedwith the consideration of the gravity and wind load. The security of the newreinforced concrete chimney is verified, and the design scheme of the new chimneyis improved.3. The EL-Centro wave, Taft wave and Tianjin wave are selected to the comparativeanalysis of seismic response of the conventional and the new reinforced concretechimneys. The influence of horizontal and vertical seismic excitation on the stress ofthe chimney is discussed. Finally, in order to expand the function of the newreinforced concrete chimney, the influence of the height of bottom structure on theseismic performance of this structure is studied further.
