Nowadays, China has stepped into an unprecedented process of urbanization. Urbanization in China is mainly reflected in land, space, environment and people. The urgent need toexpand urban area and buildings leads to a higher requirement for urbanization. Besides, because people often put emphasis on concept of humanism, the urbanization in the new age is accordingly added with some elements in daily life of people, which are more connected withhuman beings. Therefore, in the process of speed-up urbanization, people also start to pay attention toconstruction of modern garden and how to fulfill its best effect. Garden is a special environment people build by utilizing natural resource, plants, and animals in order to lead their life.Garden is not equal to pure urban buildings, because it’s not only a kind of art work created by people, but also meets the people’s requirement for elegant and poetic environment, and provides people with the home for both body and soul. Furthermore, in the Chinese context, aChinese garden is undoubtedly deeply combined with metaphysical beauty and cultural significance in China. In addition, staying in a garden environment will keep people absolutely freeand released in body and soul, and help build a balance between nature and people. The significance of garden for people will be best expressed in that way.In terms of forms and functions, modern garden is inherited from traditional garden onsome degree, so as to offer people a piece of green, vividness, leisure, peace and quietness torelease people from such a modern urban life full of pressure in all aspects. However, it’s justexpanded urbanization that adds construction of modern garden with some industrial, technological, and commercial features that are actually opposite to the agricultural culture of garden, and will lead to problems in many aspects when it comes to function, concept, objective and form of garden. The thesis takes the garden Five Golden Flowers located in Sansheng, Chengdu, and the traveling project of Farmer’s House as examples, to analyze the advantage anddisadvantage of construction of modern gardens under the background of expanded urbanization, with final aim to reveal that, on the back of the business success,Five Golden Flowers isactually opposite to people’s requirement for poetic Inhabiting.
