Crush resistance of the side door and the roof of a passenger car are two importantindicators for the quality of the car body, and they are also have an important role inenhancing the passive safety of the car.The crush resistance finite simulation model of the side door and the roof wereestablished by using the finite element method. Crush resistance performance of the sidedoor and the roof had been analyzed by using exhibit algorithms, and the buckling anddenting performance of the automobile panel also had been analyzed using implicitalgorithms. To improve the resistance-crush ability, the poor structural components wereoptimized. In this paper, the specific work were as follows:1. Geometry cleaning and meshing cell were performed in the Hypermesh pre-processsoftware, at the same time according to the actual location of the weld in Catia the wholevehicle were assembled. Then based on truth mechanical properties, materials model wereestablished. Crush resistance model of the side door, buckling and denting model of thepanel and crush resistance model of the roof were established at last;2. According to GB15743-1995"Passenger car Strength of side doors" regulatory, thestrength of side door was simulated by LS-DYNA. Then the crush resistance performancewas evaluated through analyzing the load displacement curve. To improve the crushresistance performance a structure optimization for the side door was presented, and thecrush resistance performance of side door was improved after been optimized;3. According to SAE J2575"Standardized Dent Resistance Test Procedure" regulatory,the buckling and denting model of the panel was simulated by ABAQUS. Then the dentingresistance stiffness was evaluated through analyzing the load displacement curve. Toimprove the denting resistance stiffness two optimization schemes were presented, and thedenting resistance stiffness of the panel was improved after been optimized;4. According to GB26134-2010"Roof crush resistance" regulatory,the crush strengthmodel of the roof was simulated by LS-DYNA. Then the crush resistance performance wasevaluated through analyzing the rigid wall force-displacement curve. Then the sectionforce of the main load-bearing components and the force transferring route were discussedin the process of the crush. Finally the main load-bearing structures such as A-pillar,B-pillar and roof cross beam and so on were optimized, and the crush resistanceperformance of the roof was improved after been optimized.
