Ground Source Heat Pump is a renewable energy available air-conditioning system, developing with energy crisis and environmental pollution. This system has the advantage of high efficiency, no pollution, good stability and low operation cost. Theoretical research and design applications of GSHP technology has been very mature in the world, but the operation and management of the system is the key to achieve energy-efficient. Therefore, this paper tested a residential district of GSHP system in Yangzhou, analyzed operating characteristics of GSHP system in hot summer and cold winter area, and established the ground heat exchanger model to predicts the existence of heat balance problem in the future.Firstly, the paper comprehensively analyzed the present situation of the international energy utilization, technical research and application markets and development prospects of GSHP system, laws and regulations of China, policies of some provinces of GSHP system.Secondly the paper analyzed the operation data of GSHP system in Yangzhou, regulated and tested the operating conditions of the system in summer, and analyzed operating characteristics in summer. This is contents need to analyze: the hourly cooling and heating load of GHSP system, the error between design load and true load, the annual heat absorbed and released from ground, what the heat balance is, the coefficient of performance(COP), the energy efficiency ratio(EER), the ground temperature recovery.Thirdly, the paper used the ANSYS-CFX simulation software to establish the ground heat exchanger model, to analyze the ground temperature field around the ground heat exchanger, and to verify the accuracy of model with the data of system over the years. Finally, the paper used the proper ground heat exchanger model to simulate two working conditions that the residential occupancy rate remains at50%and increase by10%per year. Then, predicts the variation of the ground temperature field in the next five years. It is the conclusion:when the residential occupancy rate remains at50%,the ground temperature will not decrease obviously in the next five years, which do not affect the normal operation of the system; when the residential occupancy rate increases by10%per, the ground temperature will decrease obviously in the next five years, which leads to the unbalance of ground temperature field. It will affect the system energy efficiency, if the workers do not take any appropriate measures, and proposed the corresponding solution.
