New anchored reinforced system is a new kind of flexible protection system, which combined high performance turf reinforcement mats (HPTRM) with percussion driven earth anchor, has been applied in the shallow slope stability in the United States. The application of ARVS in protection of swelling rock slope is new research direction. In the paper, the reinforcement effect of swelling rock with HPTRM is studied by laboratory tests, model tests and numerical simulation. In this paper, the research content included:(1) The mechanism of swelling rock constrained by HPTRM is studied. Since HPTRM allows a certain amount of expansion deformation of swelling rock, the expansion force is not the same with different deformation. In order to study the distribution of expansive force, The exponential relationship between small deformation expensive force and deformation rate is obtained by expansive force test.(2) The experimental device is designed and produced. The swelling rock reinforcement model test which combined of HPTRM and bolt is carried out by the design device. The test results show that:the remolded swelling soil expansive force and deformation is increasing with the increase of water content. The measuring point average displacement of swelling rock bound by HPTRM test model is7.7mm and the measuring point average displacement of bare swelling rock model is10.2mm, which illustrates that expansive soil deformation could be restricted by HPTRM. Under the same loading conditions, the ultimate load of swelling rock bound by HPTRM model is123kg, the ultimate load of bare swelling rock model is98kg, which indicates the expansion force suffered by HPTRM is transmitted to the bolt. The contrast of the development of fracture after30days between the swelling rock bound by HPTRM model and the bare swelling rock model shows that:HPTRM could restrict the development of rock fractures. The fissures of the swelling rock bound by HPTRM model are evenly distributed and the maximum fissure is only2mm; the fissures of bare swelling rock model are uneven and the maximum fissure is8mm.(3) The force acting on HPTRM is analyzed by expansion force inversion with numerical simulation. The actual expansion, expansion distribution and bolt stress situation is obtained.
