As the continuous development of technology, the construction of highways in Vietnam has been unprecedented developed, and convenience, comfort and speedy have become the biggest advantages of highways. However, the only deficiency is the uneven settlement of road-bridge transition section that is still not be well handled and there is sometimes vehicle bump, which influences running speed, comfort level of passengers and brings hidden trouble of traveling safety. The design and construction of road-bridge transition section is a weak link for a long period, but a full consensus of which method is the most reasonable has not been reached so far.This article talks about the current situation and defects of highway traffic system, roadbed and road-bridge transition section in Vietnam. To KM27+260road-bridge transition section of Tp.HO CHI MINH-TRUNG LUONG highway, the article analyzes phenomenon and reason of bump at bridge-head and build a numerical model based on ABAQUS/CAE working platform to make static simulation analysis and dynamic simulation analysis. The main research object of this article is to analyze the main factors of ride comfort of road-bridge transition section and some valuable conclusions have been given. According to comparison and analysis to deflection results of elastic modulus of earth fill in different transition sections, conclusion about the developing law of transition settlement has been made. Besides, this article analyzes how to design optimal inverse trapezium transition section so as to decrease differential settlement and eliminate bump at bridge-head.Finally, the article makes an analysis of road-bridge transition section roadbed slope stability when there is rainfall infiltration under the condition of heavy rainfall in Vietnam. The research results will bring reference meanings for the design of road-bridge transition section in Vietnam.
