With the rapid development of the thermal power industry in Guizhou,a large number of coal-fired power plant put into production use, Guizhou has become the main provinces of our country’s electricity output. As the fly ash production growth, only a small part by recycling, the most was idle, it cause serious environmental pollution and waste of land resources, and to restrict power industry development in Guizhou province. The utilization of fly ash is a urgent problem, and will be a lot of fly ash used in highway construction effectively is one of the important ways to solve the problem.First, this paper investigated the main power plants and its fly ash production and utilization amount in Guizhou province, summarizes the main distribution of fly ash in Guizhou province, and according to the distribution of fly ash and the plan of expressway net in Guizhou province selected five power plants’ fly ash which are representative, to carring the the fly ash’s physical performances and chemical indexes, mechanical characteristics and the engineering characteristics study, and the basic performance parameters of fly ash was obtained, and combine with standard evaluationed the applicability of fly ash as the raw material using in road.According to soft soil foundation treatment instructions of section of Hangrui highway from Zunyi to Bijie, analyse Guizhou mountainous landform features and the characteristics of soft soil foundation, get the gravity density, saturated gravity density, cohesion of soft soil foundation by experimental for the theoretical calculation. To prepare for the proposed new method for soft ground sections of road construction, there have a brief analysis of the main methods and technical features of the highway soft soil foundation treatment in Guizhou.Analysis on breakage types of embankment, find out the main damage type of fly ash embankment, as a basis for the stability analysis of embankment, imitate the fly ash embankment on soft soil ground by the finite element software PLAXIS. Based on the characteristics of soft soil foundation in Guizhou mountainous area, calculate the factor of safety, stress and strain of the soft soil layer at a certain thickness in different embankment section, compare and analyse the calculation results of different embankment height and slope, according to the deformation and stress distribution of fly ash embankment, find the reasonable fly ash embankmet design, for the right design method and construction process in engineering. Finaly, that summarized the construction technology about fly ash embankment by fly ash embankment experimental road and analysed fly ash embankment in economic view, that will provide the reference for builting this kind road in Guizhou area.This paper on the basic of summarizes the domestic and foreign’s fly ash using ways in the road engineering and usage, combining with the actual situation of fly ash and present situation of highway construction in Guizhou province, studied the applicability of using fly ash in highway construction. The results showed that using fly ash in road in Guizhou province is feasible, and developed a new way for the comprehensive utilization of fly ash, developed a new road material for highway construction in Guizhou province.
