Experimental Study On Mechanical Properties Of Stirrup Enhanced Glued Bamboo Columns

Bamboo is a natural composite material, it has the advantages of short growth cycle,easy cutting and ecological function. the ecological and social benefits of bamboo hasbecame imore mportant. The bamboo fibre with high tensile strength and compressivestrength also has a good aseismic performance. it also has the shortcomings of smallstiffness，splitting failure and irregular shapes, etc.. the glued bambo use the bamboochip of fixed width, thickness to stick togehter，then put several Bamboo plywoodstogether in the thickness direction with binder to form the glued bamboo columns.butthe glued bamboo column, when bamboo is under pressure, there may happensdelamination，dscretization and brittle failure and other defects.0As the research object of this paper, glued bamboo columns were enhanced by theFRP or tinplate by different forms, Through the experimental research method，researchand analysis of the mechanical properties of bamboo was done before and afterreinforcement，applicability of various reinforcement methods is also discussed in thispaper.In this paper, using the iron, frp to enhance the13glued bamboo columns ofdifferent sizes as the confinement, deformation and the ultimate failure form is doneduring the ompressive test,it gets the improvement ratio of different materials anddifferent spacing of stirrups on bamboo columns and the tress-strain diagram and loaddisplacement curves. Experimental results show that FRP can improve compressivestrength of bamboo and the deformation behavior. it change brittle failure form of theglued bamboo columns and improve the ductility.3bamboo column specimens were simulated and analyzed with Ansys,Under cyclicload the enforced columns can improve the fatigue life and durability of the bamboocolumns.
