In the process of waterway regulation and maintence, spur dike as a common formof regulation structures, has the effect of narrowing riverway and scouring channeldeeply. Research in this paper relies on the major projects “Research on reliability anddesign operation life of regulation structures”, which came from the ministry oftransport are mainly about the technology of improving the ability of navigation in thegolden waterway. The project relies on the regulating engineering of Jingjiang river inthe middle reaches of the Yangtze. Guaranteeing the stability of the regulation structures,ensuring the safety and effect and reducing maintenance costs are the mainconsiderations of the project. At the same time, considering the unadvanced design andanalysis of reliability of regulation structures at present, we took the measures ofprototype observation, theoretical analysis and flume experiment and carried out theresearch of the degree of reliability of the rockfill groin and the design working life,which depended on the survey of regulation structures in Jingjiang river and the reasonanalysis of the water damage. Thus we put forward the mechanical stability model ofriprap blocks and the reliability model based on Weibull distribution with threeparameters. Based on the theory of equivalence volume, we come up with thecalculation method used to calculate the residual life of spur dike which had beenscoured by flood of various flood peak discharge. Because of many uncertain factorsand the complexity of its structure, we adopt dimensional analytical method to study theformula for water-destruction volumetric ratio of rockfill groin. This formula connectsthe water-destruction volume of rockfill groin with its affecting factors directly and itcan reflect the relationship between the water-destruction’s factors and degreequantitatively. The calculated results fitted the experiment data well, which couldsupply reference to the project design and maintenance.
