The dimension deviation from production assembly process is a main factor forthe quality of automobile. And quality of automobile is a main factor for its compe-titiveness in the market. Therefore, it is important to improve precision of BIW and toreduce the dimension deviation of automobile. Each stage of designing andmanufacture may produce the deviation. Because of BIW has its own characteristics ofstructure complex, so how to monitor the deviation and how to solve the problemsfound have become a issue. This paper accomplished the main contents as follows:(1) The analysis was based on the characteristics of wavelet transform modulusmaxima algorithm and established by the BIW dimension data processing. The originaldata measured by CMM was decomposed and only keep the system error. It can reducethe complexity analysis of BIW deviation factor and improve the recognition rate.(2) This paper analyzed the principal component analysis theory and confirmed itis suit to apply on BIW dimensional deviation analysis. Principal component analysisperformed on the data transfer by wavelet transform modulus maxima algorithm. Thengot the main ingredients and to diagnose dimension sources,which were according tothe contribution rate.(3) This paper analyzed the manufacturing and assembly process of the BIW. Thenthis paper introduced the evaluation standard index—Gap/Flush. In order to facilitatethe diagnosis and analysis of dimensional deviation easily, this paper also analyzed thefeatures of BIW, which has a guiding significance for finding the main ingredients.(4) By applying the theory and algorithms, this paper completed a application case.The result was satisfactory: the dimensional deviation has been greatly reduced andcould meet the requirement from OEM. Validate the BIW dimension deviation systembase on wavelet transform and principal component analysis is useful for the actualmonitoring of the BIW dimension deviation and has a positive role in guiding thework.
