Concrete pumper is special-purpose equipment for transporting and pumpingconcrete, whose performances is judged mainly on its boom system. The booms oftensuffer from vibrations, which are detrimental to the boon by cause problems such asimprecise orientation and fatigue rupture.This paper takes a boom system with33-meter long four bar placer jib as anexample and studies its vibrations and the optimization of structural parameters. Themain content of this study is as flows:(1)Simplifying the3D model of boom with pro/Engineer software and thenimporting the model into Pro/MECHANICA to conduct model analysis.(2)Comparing different posture of the boom and find out the minimum naturalfrequency of the structure at a certain modal and the maximum structural parameter thatinfluence the natural frequency most. And then finding out the functional relationshipbetween key structural parameters and the natural frequency at a certain modal throughpattern recognition. After that, extending the dimensions of the variables and then usinggenetic algorithm to screen them. Finally, processing the group of variables withminimum function values obtained through the prior step and using MLR(MultipleLinear Regression) to define the functional relationship expression.(3)Using GA(Genetic Algorithm) toolkit to optimize the structural parameters andthen analyzing the results of optimization via simulation experiments and functionalrelationship respectively. Finally, testifying whether the optimized boom can meet thestrength requirements via static analysis.Comparison between the results of simulation experiments and functionalexpression shows that the identification error is very small, so it can be said thatfunctional relationship expressions have satisfying predication capacity. Using methodsproposed in this paper to optimize the structural parameters of the boom can help it avoidthe working frequency of the pump truck effectively, therefore the methods proposed inthis paper is capable of giving some guidance to boom system designing.
