With the rapid growth of car ownership in China, detection and diagnosistechnology of automobile has a rapid development. As the control core of the engine,the ECU will directly affect the automobile’s power performance, economy andcomfort. Therefore, the detection of the engine ECU is increasingly important. At thesame time, because of the engine ECU models varied, the engine ECU of the terminal,characteristic, function also differ in thousands of ways. So, how to develop ECUdetection equipment used in most of the car is important application significance.In the analysis of the characteristics and shortcomings of fault detection method ofengine ECU commonly used post, a dynamic testing method of analog sensor signal.Dynamic detection method to input analog signal as the foundation, developed to adaptto the ECU engine fault detection instrument of many models. The fault detectioninstrument can sensor signal simulation under various conditions, and then enter thedetected ECU signals to be output, measured by analyzing the ECU, diagnosis can befully tested ECU. Development of engine ECU fault detection instrument comprisessignal generating system design, design three parts of wire harness design and faultdiagnosis procedure.Test results show that the design scheme of the engine, the ECU tester is feasible,reliable. To the fault position, accurate positioning of the tested engine ECU at the sametime, the ECU engine fault detecting instrument is universal, can diagnose the differenttypes of engine ECU, and the soft, hardware upgrade easily.
