The distributed generation, which can be complementary with the centralized power grids, has the advantage of cleanness, reliability and economy. However, distributed generation could have a serious impact on the protection function of the traditional distribution network, and even lead to the failure of the protection to traditional distribution network. In order to overcome the bad effect of distribution generation brought to traditional distribution network, a breaker controller is designed in the thesis. On the one hand, it can monitor the electric distribution network containing distributed generation in real time as well as collect parameters of electric distribution network and send it to SCADA so that remote monitoring can be realized; on the other hand, the electric distribution network containing distributed generation can be protected to ensure the safe operation of the power grid and improve the quality of electricity power.The TMS320F2812DSP chip was used as the main chip in the thesis. The modular design idea is adopted both in hardware and software. The main chip, analog acquisition modules, switch acquisition modules, communication modules, interface modules as well as power supply modules hardware circuit design ideas are detailed analyzed. Each module flowchart design principle of the main program, sampling procedures, human-machine interface programs and protection programs are elaborated. The hardware and software design solutions have been described in detail in the thesis. And each module hardware schematics, software main program and subroutine modules are described in detail. Finally, the data acquisition, communications, and various other functions of the breaker controller were tested, and test results were recorded and analyzed.Test results show that the breaker controller has the advantages of high data acquisition precision and rapid protection response. During the test, human-machine interface operates normally, protection function, alarm function and communication functions work well, which achieves the design goal.
