Ground source heat pump is a heat pump system with the use of low temperaturelevel heat energy and heat storage performance in the rock and soil, groundwater orsurface water. In China, the research started in the1980s, and it entered the stage ofrapid development and application after the21st century. Reasonable and effectivedesign for ground heat exchanger design is a prerequisite for efficient ground sourceheat pump system running, and is effective way to reduce the initial investment andoperating costs of the system. This paper reviews the development process andresearch status of the ground heat exchanger design and calculation methods indomestic and foreign, including research status of the heat transfer analysis betweenthe surrounding soil and ground heat exchanger and design parameters of the groundheat exchanger, which lays the theoretical foundation for the research work behind. The main contents of this paper include: First, point the questions of thetraditional ground heat exchanger’s design and calculation methods, A new design andcalculation method is proposed that couples coupled with the system designparameters on the basis of a single U quasi-three-dimensional heat transfer model indrilling. Second, analyze the dynamic load characteristics of the building, heat pumpperformance characteristics and ground heat exchanger performance that impact onsystem performance qualitatively, and analyze the influence on underground heatexchanger’s capabilities of different designed inlet temperature of the circling liquidin underground heat exchangers, flow, drilling depth, etc based on a single Uquasi-three-dimensional heat transfer model in drilling. Fourth, combining economicevaluation index-the depth of the heat exchanger unit cost index, analyze economyof the different design approach based on the above model. Fifth, give therecommended values of some design parameters combining the full-text analysis. In view of the traditional design and calculation method’s questions of groundheat exchanger, this paper propose a coupling design method and solving process ofground heat exchanger that is based on a single U quasi-three-dimensional heattransfer model in drilling and combine the impact on the system of design p arametersand interaction among parameters. Meanwhile, this paper establishs the runningsimulation model of ground source heat pump system to analyze heat pump energyconsumption and economy under different design approach, and gives the recommended values of some design parameters, which is about to provide valuablereference for the engineering design in the future.
