Indoor acoustic design is a very important research in the field of architecturalacoustics direction. People could share a happy mood and listening experience in agood sound field environment. As the complexity of the voice transmitting within thespace, there are many serious acoustic defects in it, which need architectural acousticsexperts take remedial measures according to the requirements of function andengineering experience. In recent years, the rapid development of technology providesthe interior sound field of computer simulation with technology and platform, whichis widely used in practical engineering.At the same time, Multi-function halls with reasonable area, economical,complete function, purpose and variety characteristic, which meet the needs of societyand the diverse requirement of people, are gradually realized and loved by people. Atpresent, colleges and universities have built their unique multi-function halls. There isa space by breaking floor slab in the forth floor in College of Liberal Arts, Journalismand Communication, The Ocean University of China, in order to build amulti-function hall to speech report, stage performances, film and television viewingfor teachers and students. This space, due to the limitation of rooms around, has aspecial internal structure, which means it has to overcome many difficulties to realizeits sound quality control.This paper regards this embedded space as the research object. We explored thesound field characteristics of it through the on-site measurement of PULSE systemand simulation of Odeon software. With the guide of theories in architecturalacoustics and the basis of computer simulation software, we compared its advantagesand disadvantages of a variety of design methods and other factors such as projectbudget and the construction cost. We designed and producted acoustic structures tomodify acoustic quality defects of it. Finally, the space was constructed into a multi-purpose hall, meeting the use requirements. Lab members made a large numberof experiments in the process of designing and building and had engineering andtechnical innovation in some aspects. We studied how the vents at the top, soundabsorption material layout influence spatial sound quality. Moreover, we alseconsidered the design and installation of wall acoustic structure and the speakerplacement. Additionally, we also designed the exploratory experiments, in order tomaking subjective evaluation of the hall and find the influence of different emotionsof human to language recognition accuracy. Research results and engineeringexperience have certain reference significance to people working in similar.
