With the increasing emphasis about security and environmental issues of tailings,it is an urgent problem to improved stability tailings dam and increase storagecapacity. Due to some advantages as dewatering and crushing of tailings material, library no water saving in tailings and no seepage, the dry stack tailings destined towidely adopted around the tailings dam. Meanwhile, the dry stack tailings dam canincrease storage capacity, and solve the tailings’ problems of both stability andenvironmental issues to ensure the stability of the tailing dam. It not only reduces therisk of damage of the downstream people and the enterprise’s lives and property, butalso increase the area of utilization and achieve the purpose of expansion. Therefore,it is a work of tremendous social benefits to study dry stack tailings dam stability, applicability and widely promoted the dry stack technology. The thesis aims to study the stability of dry stack tailings dam and fully using theliving example of dry stack tailings, to achieve a win-win of security and storagecapacity. At present, our country have not yet enacted for dry tailings pile designspecifications, so the moisture content, degree of crushing, heap building height andslope do not have a norm standard in design. In this context, the main work are:(1)According to deffirent mineral type and composition, three different tailingsmaterials of the fine sand, silty sand, silty soil was tested to get shear strengthparameters at different moisture rate and different relative density(compactioncoefficient).(2)Using soil slope stability analysis program of STAB, the thesis analyses thestability against sliding with different material and particular profile of tailings, andthen summarizes the distribution law of dam anti-sliding stability safety coefficientwith different moisture rate and density, based on the parameters getting fromexperiment.(3)In the same context tailings environment, the thesis analyzes influence speedof stack height, slope and earthquake magnitude to the dry accumulation tailing dam stability coefficient. While from the comparison of dam stability betweenconventional tailings project examples and dry tailings, the results indicates that damstability influented by the water of tailing seriously.(4)The preliminary design of dry stack tailings project examples is analysed andsome useful suggestions are tabled, and it has a certain practical significance for drystack tailing design.
