The surface reconstruction technique of automotive body has become a hotissue in current automotive industry at home and abroad. With the coming forth ofthe3D laser scanner and other advanced equipments, it is convenient to obtaindigital models represented by triangular mesh with fine details. Now, thereconstruction techniques of automotive body from triangular mesh surface tosmooth surface have been the critical question. Based on the approximation tool ofT spline surface to further research the reconstruction techniques from triangularmesh surface to smooth surface, the main work includes follows:(1)Based on the increment method to realize scattered point cloudtriangulation provides paper with triangular mesh surface topological information;according to the characteristics of bigger curvatures,triangular mesh surfaceparameterized method was researched, and a suitable method for the automotivebody triangular mesh surface was choosed, then achieved parameterization byapplying the method into triangular mesh surface parameterized procedure;(2) Study on the T spline surface reconstruction techniques, mainly researchon the method of constructing T grid and reversing control points. A mesh methodIntegrated with T grid and quadtree is also proposed in this paper and applied it tothe triangular mesh partition of automotive body. Then, based on least-square toget the control points so the surface reconstruction of automotive body scatteredpoint cloud would be constructed based on the T spline;(3) Analyze and compare the advantages and disadvantages of subdivisionsurface reconstruction, NURBS surface reconstruction and T spline surfacereconstruction and analyzes the applicability of its surface reconstruction based onscattered point cloud;(4) Use the programming development tool Visual C++6.0to realizeautomotive body point cloud surface reconstruction and combine with UG/OPENAPI to realize secondary development; reconstruct the automotive body triangularmesh surface to verify validity and feasibility of algorithms.
