There are two main conventional shear walls: reinforced-concrete shear wall and steelplate shear wall. Reinforced-concrete shear wall has high carrying capacity and strong lateralstiffness, but ductility and energy dissipation capacity is poor, the degradation of stiffness isfast in the later stage. The steel plate shear wall need to be provided a stable out-of-planesupport, this arrangement restrains the possible out-of-plane buckling. The reinforcedconcrete-steel-reinforced concrete (RCSRC) sandwich composite steel plate shear wall thatconsist of a steel plate shear wall with reinforced concrete (RC) panels attached to both sidesrestrains the possible out-of-plane buckling of the thin-walled steel plate. The using of bolts tomake the cover plate and steel plate work together. Compared with conventional shear walls, the carrying capacity, energy dissipation and deformation capacity have improvedsignificantly. In order to study the overall performance of RCSRC sandwich composite steel plateshear wall in the three-dimensional structural space, under bidirectional ground motions. Inthe form of the building structure that supporting the medical office of a hospital in Ji’nan, byusing PKPM structural calculation software to establish finite element model of the steelframe-reinforced concrete infill wall. Using CQC analyses the internal force and deformationof building under frequently occurred earthquake. The parameters of finite element modelcompliance with national code. The finite element model of steel frame-reinforced concreteinfill wall as the prototype in Sap2000software, by replacing the type of shear wall to formstructure system of reinforced concrete shear wall, steel plate shear wall and RCSRCsandwich composite steel plate shear wall. The finite element models are applied EI-CentroNS, Taft and artificial ground motions in two directions. The dynamic time history analysison building under rarely occurred earthquake. The result showed that: the RCSRC sandwichcomposite steel plate shear wall is better than the steel plate shear wall in carrying capacityand lateral stiffness. The stabilize post-deformation of RCSRC sandwich composite steel plateshear wall is also better than the steel plate shear wall. Compared with reinforced concreteshear wall, the great advantage of RCSRC sandwich composite steel plate shear wall isoverall deformation. The effective deformation can delay the adverse effects for building that earthquake produced, played an important role in damping.
