With the increase of network load in China, grid construction develops rapidly. But different levels of economic development makes the regional of power load evident. Power consumption of eastern coastal region is very great. The power in Zhejiang is taken as an example, the load is very concentrated, and the structure of power is very close, which causes short circuit current level in the region increase rapidly and continuously. And it has an influence on safety and steady operation of power system and normal operation of national production.For various short troubles, the short trouble which is near to transformer has the most serious damage. It not only greatly damages insulation of transformer, but also makes power outage large and has more serious influence. Therefore, conditional short-circuit current must firstly restrict short-circuit current of short trouble which is near to transformer.The paper summarizes and analyzes several methods of restricting short-circuit current, especially for the short-circuit current near Transformer. Combined with actual situation, the paper puts an emphasize on introducing short circuit current limiting open circuit which is applied to field devices. And the paper develops the current limiting measures from the principles and using effect, affirms that it achieves the objective of limiting near short-circuit current and ensures the safety of device after fault occurs.
