With the rapid development of Chinese high-speed railway, the operational speed is increased gradually, while the operating environment is worse, its aerodynamic performance and operation stability has changed significantly. Under the effect of crosswind, flow field around the train has changed, and the pressure on external surface of the train has also changed. There is a significant rise in the aerodynamic load, and the possibility of the derailment and overturning is increased. Therefore, we need to intensively study the aerodynamic performance of the high-speed train in different conditions to ensure safe running of the train.Firstly, from Analyzing the pressure on external surface at different speed, and comparing the flow field around the train in different conditions and wind velocities, get the Aerodynamic load characteristics under the crosswind at different train speed and running conditions, and then compare these characteristics in different vehicles. From the analysis, we can know that the aerodynamic load of the train is significantly increased with the wind speed and running speed increased, the head car’s environment is worse than others. From this, it can be seen that aerodynamic characteristics in trains depends largely on the head car. Through comparing different running conditions, we get that the aerodynamic load are the same both on bridges and on the ground, and the worst environment appeared in the outside of the double-line embankment.Secondly, using multi-body dynamic software to establish the dynamic model of the high-speed train, and the aerodynamic load is input by MATLAB. Through simulation, we get the dynamic performance. According to safety index of the train, evaluate the running status at different speed of train and crosswind, and then explore the highest speed under crosswind.This article provides reference frame for the high-speed EMU in China when running in the crosswind, results of the study has important actual significance and practical application value for safe operation in crosswind environment.
