As city develops, the impact of deep foundation pit excavation upon adjacent environment compels ever growing attention. How to effectively keep the foundation pit from deformation and shield adjacent buildings from its impact remains an issue yet to be solved in foundation pit engineering that is both safe and cost-effective.In light of a certain tunnel ramp foundation pit program in Changsha, information concerning hydrogeology, engineering, physical mechanics of the soli body was gathered on the field. Based on the data available, a study concerning the impact of foundation pit excavation upon adjacent buildings was made. Presented below are the main contents of the study.(1) A summary concerning deep foundation pit deformation was made. A comprehensive analysis was then made upon the foundation pit of the ramp to be studied and its surrounding environment. The data gathered laid the foundation for ensuring numerical analysis.(2) An illustration was made concerning the monitoring upon buildings surrounding the said foundation pit undergoing construction. By monitoring the foundation pit excavation engineering, data was collected, processed, and analyzed, which lead to preliminary commanding of the influence law of foundation pit excavation upon adjacent buildings. Protective measures were then put forward for surrounding buildings.(3) Numerical simulation was made for the said foundation pit and surrounding buildings on FLAC3D. Simulative analysis was made upon soil body with different enforcement strengths enacted. The comparative analysis lead to the conclusion that soil body strengthening measures do contribute to building safety surrounding foundation pit to be excavated.(4) Based on theoretical study and simulative analysis, the weight-fusion based ideal-point method was used to form a building safety evaluation model. Incorporated in the model include the deformation status of building surrounding the foundation pit, the disturbance of soil between the foundation pit and adjacent buildings, and the anti-disturbance capability of adjacent buildings bases.
