In recent years, China’s demand for energy continues to grow, and coal, oil and otherconventional energy sources are increasingly depleted. Under the national advocateenergy conservation in the background, wind power has become an important directionof development and utilization of new energy sources. With the rapid development ofwind energy conversion technology, the medium and small wind power technologyrepresents a trend of wind energy utilization. In place with plentiful wind resources, theconstruction of small and medium size wind power or building of a hybrid system withwind power and solar power in a complementary manner has become a new choice forsupplying small-size loads. Therefore, following the developing trend of the smart grids,to construct a demonstration platform to study the design of small and medium windpower systems as well as grid technology is very important.This thesis begins with discussing the development status and trends of small andmedium sized wind power plants at home and abroad. On the basis of site selection andinstallation of the wind resource analysis, the characteristics of various types of windturbines are compared, then the grid-connected wind turbines needed in the TaianDianxiao wind power project is analyzed and selected. The related technology problemsfor small and medium size wind power system design are discussed and the otherancillary equipment needed by the project is determined. A design layout of small andmedium wind power systems suitable to training purpose is proposed.Secondly, by analyzing the composition of the system, the system control scheme isproposed to achieve a real-time online monitoring and control. Through analyzing theimpact of wind power networking on the power system and network control strategy, thenetworking pattern in this project is proposed and the networking test is carried out.Finally, based on the networking test results for small and medium wind powersystem, an idea is proposed to reducing the voltage quality problem resulted from thewind power networking by improving the small and medium wind power systems andusing intelligent micro-grid technology.
