As an important part of the electric power communication networks, the opticalfiber transmission networks carry important information of the power dispatch, relayprotection, automation in the production and management. Robust and reliable poweroptical fiber transmission networks are the foundation of the safe and stable operation forthe power grid. To discover the hidden problems existing in the networks, it is needed toevaluate the network status before giving the network plan, reconstruction andoperational management, and then focus on the network optimization and adjustment,construction and reform. The traditional network evaluation need to hire professionalstaff, it not only has the high cost, but also consume much time, and cannot find theoperating risks and potential vulnerabilities of the network in time.Based on the demand of electric power communication for optical fibertransmission networks, this research investigates the present situation of the Wuhu powercommunication network, analyses the main methods and techniques of communicationnetworks evaluation both at home and abroad, and then the assessment scheme isdetermined. According to the implementation plan, layered evaluation index system ofthe optical transmission networks is established, which is based on the completeness,reliability, and scalability of the networks. In this paper, it uses the Analytic HierarchyProcess to calculate the weight of indicators in each layers, and goes through theconsistency check. Based on complex network theory, and considered the direct influenceand indirect influence of node in the bandwidth weighted network, the node importanceevaluation model is proposed; and then, the network invulnerability evaluation model isgiven with considering the node removal influence on the efficiency of the networks.Based on Browser/Server three layers scheme architecture, optimization software isdesigned and implemented for the Wuhu power optical fiber transmission networks. Themain function modules of the software include station (nodes) management, optical fibercable line management, network equipment management, line management, networkevaluation, report graphic display. User management and password service are includedin the auxiliary function module. The assessment of Wuhu power optical fibertransmission networks is completed using the software. At the same time, the evaluationand optimization suggestions are given. Finally, on the basis of the assessment and thepractical problems existed in Wuhu power transmission networks, the ideas and solutionsof the network optimization are provided. It can be considered as a reference of the futureevaluation and optimization for Wuhu power optical fiber transmission network. And ithas reference value for optimization of optical fiber transmission network in othercompanies.
