For its water conservation, small footprint and operating flexibility and manyother advantages, direct air cooling technique is widely used in industrial fieldssuch as electricity. Especially in the coal-rich and water-deficient regions, direct aircooling technique plays an important role in construction of coal-fired power plants.However, this technique encountered some problems in the operating process ofthermal power plant.Due to the fact that the direct air-cooling radiator is exposed to the air and thesteam flow is small for its low load operation in winter, the air cooling islandtemperature field is most prone to non-uniform temperature distribution and bringsto partial freezing phenomenon. As a result, the unit cannot run normally and evenwill face accidental shut down. The apparent temperature difference of directair-cooling radiator directly reflects the uneven degree of heat distribution in tubebundles of the cooling island condenser. And it should be used as an indicator takeninto consideration when the air cooling island antifreeze early-warning andantifreeze optimization adjustment is conducted. And just in the water collectionsystem and vacuum system, power plants at home and abroad can monitortemperature of the air cooling island temperature field through the installation ofthermocouple thermometer. With measuring point covering little, temperaturechange in the air cooling island temperature field cannot be reflected in real time.Therefore, construction of air cooling island temperature monitoring system andproposals of a reasonable antifreeze optimization scheme could effectively improvethe operational safety and stability of direct air cooling units.This article studies the air cooling island temperature field distribution of thetemperature in winter, rational arrangement of measuring points methods isdeveloped. Using wireless temperature sensor to capture the air cooling islandtemperature field data, iFix as the supporting platform of air-cooled island on-linetemperature monitoring system was developed. According to the monitoring dataand the direct air cooling units operating conditions, a new Anti-freezingOptimization scheme is proposed. The new Anti-freezing Optimization schemeprovides a reliable protection for the operation of the air cooling island.
