Gas ion mobility must be measured at different altitudes to research the questionthat corona loss of the transmission lines in high altitude area of China and establish thecorona loss calculate model of consider the altitude factor. However, because design,process and make a measuring device of satisfied the conditions involves so many points,so this paper carried out some preliminary work. Make a needle ring corona dischargecurrent intensity measurement platform which can simulate different altitudes. It mainincludes the ionization source and ion current amplification circuit. Lay a solidfoundation by the work for making a can simulate different altitude ion mobilitymeasurement platform. Measure needle ring corona discharge current intensity atdifferent altitudes by the measurement platform and preliminary analysis the effects ofaltitude to the needle loop positive corona discharge current and needle electrode voltageinception voltage. The performance of the measurement platform is verified and preparedfor make an ion mobility measurement platform of simulate different altitude.Corona discharge of extra high voltage transmission lines in high altitude area has alot stronger than the eastern region. AC six-bundle conductors corona inception voltagesare researched at different altitudes have reference value to the design and construct AC750kV transmission line project. UV imaging detection technology is applied in thispaper to study corona feature of6×LGJ-400/50type conductors in three different altitudelocations. The corona inception voltages of conductors are got by “tangent method”. Bycompare and analyze the existing corona inception voltage elevation correction methods,we can find that they have some limitations to correct corona onset voltage of AC750kVsix-bundle conductors in high altitude areas. More accurate altitude correction formulasare put forward, which have the reference value to design and construct extra highvoltage transmission project in high altitude area of China.
