It is necessary and significant to extract the fault feature and then achievethe fault detection of broken rotor bars in induction motors with high sensitivityand reliability. Moreover, large and middle-sized induction motors generallywork at very low slip in terms of engineering practice. Thus, it is a newchallenge to detect this kind of fault at low slip.Firstly, the broken rotor bars fault feature based on current signal isthoroughly analyzed in this dissertation, and the expression of the faultcharacteristic component in the AC-DC converter is briefly introduced. Secondly,by combining SVD filtering and ESPRIT together, a new method for detectingbroken rotor bars is proposed. Furthermore, based on Matlab/Simulinksimulation environment, vector control VFSR simulation model is built, and thecorresponding broken rotor bars simulation has been completed.Thirdly, Thecorresponding experiments under AC grid supply and converter-fed supply areboth completed. Finally, the new methord is used to deal with the simulation andexperimental results for validating its effectiveness.
