Study On Acoustic Environment Of University Library Architecture

The university library has a very important position in the university, and it is one of the "landmark buildings" in the campus and is also the center of the university education, scientific research and spreading culture. In university library, the students and teachers need to complete a lot of mental activities, and the indoor and outdoor acoustic environments of university library have an important influence on the users’ efficiency of study and work. Good sound environment in university library can make users relaxed and happy, attention staying focused and thinking flexible and smooth.The project mainly makes the study on the indoor and outdoor acoustic environment of university library architecture by taking the libraries of the Yingxi campus and Huyu campus in TYUT as an example.First of all, we refer to a large number of literatures in order to stand on the basis of predecessors’ research to go further to do our own research before writing this paper. This paper will primarily take the subjective survey and objective measurement methods with reference to the corresponding national standards, to study the indoor and outdoor acoustic environments of university library architecture.Second, we to survey the indoor and outdoor acoustic environments of the libraries of the Yingxi campus and Huyu campus in TYUT through the subjective questionnaire form. The results of the survey show that more than half of the users think that the acoustic environment of these libraries is general, and the majority of people in study and work will be influenced by all kinds of noises, including the main noise sources such as the stream of people of adding and dropping classes, mobile phone ringtones,and voices of people and the walking sound. And most people think the position of library in the campus planning, noisy and static partition of function of library building and building sound insulation and absorption are the main factors affecting the acoustic environment in the university library.Third, we use the current domestic advanced noise analyzer AWA6270+to measure the indoor and outdoor acoustic environments of the libraries of the Yingxi campus and Huyu campus and the campus acoustic environment around the construction land of the new library of the Mingxiang campus, with the digital sound level meter HY104auxiliary measuring. Results of the measurement show that most noise values are higher than the national standards in the outdoor acoustic environment of the libraries of the Yingxi campus and Huyu campus, but all sites around the construction land of the new library of the Mingxiang campus meet the national standard limits. In the indoor acoustic environment, the two libraries have in common that the noise values of the management office space, stack rooms, computer rooms and the digital reading rooms meet the national standard, but other space’s noise values are higher than the national standard limits, such as self-study areas, traffic space and so on. In addition, many ordinary reading rooms in the libraries are used in combination with self-study areas.Finally, through the analysis of the results of subjective questionnaire and objective measurement, comparing the acoustic environment of the libraries of the Yingxi campus and Huyu campus, we summarize the advantages, problems and causes of the acoustic environment of these two libraries, and put forward to the corresponding, targeted and reasonable solutions and measures for these problems, and then sum up the aspects which need to be paid attention of the noise control of the acoustic environment in university library, including the campus planning in terms of sound environment of library, architectural design problems and so on. We can not only analyze and summarize the acoustic environment of libraries well, to raise simple and effective improvement measures in view of the unreasonable places, but also bring up reasonable suggestions on the construction of the library, to try to avoid similar problems to appear again,and to be able to have better service for users. And we can also do some meaningful research for creating a good acoustic environment of university library architecture.
