In recent years, China’s infrastructure construction has made considerable progress in increasing the scale of construction, building works on construction technology requirements are increased. On the basis of the project, the pile foundation as an effective, economical foundation approach is widely used in a variety of civil engineering, transportation, water conservancy construction,Pile foundation both in terms of technical innovation or research theories are widely attentions.In this paper, the current methods for calculating domestic and international level under the pile loads carried out a detailed and comprehensive comparative analysis. Details of the common elastic subgrade reaction method and nonlinear subgrade reaction method, its own characteristics and conditions were compared and analyzed. Describes the establishment of the model used in finite element analysis software Midas-SoilWorks.Using finite element analysis software Midas-SoilWorks the base module on soft clay foundation sand foundation and rigid pile foundation pile-soil stress system simulation respectively, for single and group pile foundation pile under lateral loads the PY curves were compared and analyzed in detail. This paper discusses the different pile spacing to pile group affected by the performance of the force in the horizontal loads, and through the horizontal displacement of the pile under different conditions were compared curve, shear curve, bending curves and horizontal ground reaction force curve, and investigates the reasons.Through comparative analysis, the paper draws the following conclusions:(1) Different with the single pile, group pile foundation due to the temporary pile of soil being disturbed, horizontal ground reaction force are decreased, the presence of pile group effect should be considered in design. Affected pile group effect, the bearing capacity of single pile decreased, and with decreasing distance of the pile, pile group effect more obvious.(2) Widely recognized at home and abroad that critical pile spacing that produce pile group effect is eight times the distance from the pile, and the numerical simulation results of this model confirms this. In addition, the soft clay foundation, this threshold value may be appropriate to reduce the pile spacing.(3) Under lateral load conditions, the horizontal displacement, shear, bending moments and horizontal ground reaction force of pile group foundation’s front pile,middle pile and back pile in the horizontal direction is different, and there are also differences with single pile foundation.
