Because of its clear power transmission line,convenient installation and a series ofadvantages,the tubular joint is widely adopted at connections between hollow sectionmembers.At present,the tubular joint is mainly simplified into hinge connection in theproject design.However,as the tubular joint has a certain of rigidity,there exists a certain ofsecond bending stress,therefore research on the bending resistance properties of the jointhas the value in engineering applications and the certain theory significance.This paper focuses on the planar tubular T-joint.First of all, the finite element modelwhich is basically conformed by experiment is created by ANSYS softwate,thensystematical resarch are performed on.The results prove that:the smaller the parameterd/D,the more deformation converge on the branch,and the joint more on the verge of hingeconnection.With the increace in the parameter D/T,the flexural properties of the jointrepresent significantly declining.The more slender the joint components,the worse thejoint’s bending resistance properties.The pressure on the branch has a negative impact onthe joint’s bending resistance properties.The impacts of the pull on the branch,theparameter d/t and axial stress in chordσ/fyturn out to be small.At last,according to the analysis of unstiffened joints,in order to further improve themechanical properties of tubular joints,casing reinforced,plate out of chord reinforced andplate insert in chord reinforced joint are advanced and systematical finite element analysisare performed on them.The results prove that:the thickness of the casing t1,the lengthparameter of plate out of chordδ2,the thickness of the plate insert in chord t3and the thelength parameter of plate insert in chordδ3have a significant impact on the joint’smechanical properties.When the parameter D/T is larger plate insert in chord reinforcedenhance the joint’s bending resistance properties most obvious;in other situations casingenhance the joint’s bending resistance properties most obvious;The plate out of chordenhance the joint’s bending resistance properties relatively lesser.This paper gives a systematic analysis on the bending resistance properties of theplanar tubular T-joints,and provides reference and technical support for follow-up studiesand engineering applications.
