The sensitivity analysis of maneuverability is used to the model of operationmotion. It is used to study the influence of hydrodynamic derivative on the model ofoperation motion. It can help us to determine the importance of hydrodynamicderivatives. It also can help us to building the model and simplified models. In this thesis, the research is based on hydrodynamic modeling and parametricsensitivity analysis of the derivative. We have made an exploratory for the influenceof the part of hydrodynamic derivatives and Maneuverability. At first, the numericalsimulation of viscous flow around the KVLCC2model in oblique and rolling motionare carried out. The lateral force, yaw moment, pressure distribution on the hullsurface and the wake are calculated. And the results were compared withexperimental values. Then do the same work on a series of ship. Second, theprediction program of ship maneuverability is written which based on the model ofAbkowitz. And the predicted results were compared with experimental ship. Then dothe same work on a series of ship. Turning diameter and the first beyond has beencalculated. The Yv,Nv,Yr,Nr are calculated through the numerical simulation andother hydrodynamic derivatives estimated using the empirical formula. Finally, theexisting sensitivity analysis methods have been summarized and analyzed. The bestmethod has been selected to use in the thesis. A sensitivity analysis was performed onsix design variables affect the ship’s turning diameter and the first beyond byregression analysis. And all the sensitivity of design variables is sequenced. Theresults can provide a reference for the maneuverability in terms of MultidisciplinaryDesign Optimization. And it also can provide a reference for selecting the parameterin the designs of ship.
