With the economy development of Beijing, series of social problems is coming,including the prominent social problem of traffic congestion. As an important part ofcity road, signal intersection plays an important role. The amount of signal intersectionsis nearly2000in Beijing, The releasing characteristics research of left U-turn vehicleswill be important to relieve traffic congestion of Beijing.The research methods and data collection contents were determined from researchreview about headway characteristics, signal intersection signal intersection trafficmicroscopic simulation application and engineering design. Six signal intersections withleft U-turn lane were selected and the operation video data were collected, and then theheadways of the left U-turn vehicles were survived. And then we applied theexperimental car carrying high precision GPS to record vehicle turning speed andacceleration data. Around the headway characteristics of left U-turn vehicles, the studyfound that the headway of left U-turn vehicles is significantly greater than left turnvehicles; Different positions of queuing left U-turn vehicles have different impact on theleft turn traffic flow; The quantity and location in the traffic flow team has producedimportant influence on operation of left turn traffic delays. Finally simulation studieswere used, it shows that traffic operation delay has a logarithmic growth proportionrelation with the left U-turn vehicles, and the calculation model is put forward. |
