As a new type of energy storage devices, supercapacitors, in which electrical energyis mainly stored by electrical charge accumulation or fast and reversible redox reactionson the surface or subsurface of electrodes, are especially recommended for its high powerdensity, fast rate of charge-discharge, reliable cycling, and safe operation. Cotton threadsand an ordinary A4paper were used as substrate respectively. Then, the electrodematerials were synthesized and flexible supercapacitors were packaged.A novel cable-type flexible supercapacitor with excellent performance is fabricatedutilizing three-dimensional Polypyrrole(PPy)-MnO2-SWCNTs-cotton thread multi-gradenanostructure based electrodes. The multiple supercapacitors with a high areal capacitance1.49F/cm2at a scan rate of1mV/s connected in series and in parallel can successfullydrive a LED segment display. Such high performance is attributed to the cumulative effectof conducting single-walled carbon nanotubes on cotton thread, active mesoporousflower-like MnO2nanoplates, and PPy conductive wrapping layer improving theconductivity and acting as pseudocapacitance material simultaneously.A paper supercapacitor was fabricated by pencil drawing graphite and PPy depositionon Xerox paper and developed in foldable electronic circuit to operate LED. The pencildrawing paper was well conductive, easily reaching a small resistance95Ω/sq, andshowed high specific capacitance of52.9F/cm3at a scan rate of1mV/s after polypyrroledeposition. Connect three supercapacitors in series and can drive a commercial LED. Thistechnique represents low cost, simple and versatile fabrication method for paper-basedenergy devices.Our above researches demonstrated two efficient routines to obtain supercapcitor withhigh performance for energy storage.
