The deployable and stowable space mechanism is indispensable aerospace equipment ofspace plane to go back and forth the atmosphere and to carry out space exploration. In thispaper, a mechanism of solar array is determined. Therefore, basing on the mechanism,kinematic analysis, dynamics analysis and dynamic analysis with joint clearance areperformed.By systematically integrating existing mechanism, three deployable and stowablemechanisms are compare are compared, and a deployable and stowable mechanism of solararray which is of high rigidity, can be oriented towards sun, and can be separated at the timeof failure is determined.Through analysis of the kinematics of the mechanism, drive type is determined. Andthrough trajectory analysis of each component of the mechanism, the component size isdetermined. Through the modal analysis of the mechanism, windsurfer mass, the intermediateconnector block mass of the truss, truss rod cross-sectional size and form are considered todiscuss the influence of the natural frequency of the truss. Through the transient dynamicanalysis, the structural damping is considered to research truss stability in the entirelydeployed state.In this paper, the deployable and stowable mechanism of solar array with joint clearance isapplied to the multi-body system dynamics simulation analysis. And the description methodsof clearance are introduced. What’s more, the advantages and disadvantages of theKelvin-Voigt viscoelastic model, the nonlinear elastic collision force model and the nonlinearspring damping collision force model are analyzed and compared. Finally, according to thenonlinear spring damping collision force model, by ADAMS software, the dynamicscharacteristics of the mechanism of solar array with clearance are studied, including researchon size of the clearance, presence or absence of the clearance, the damping of the clearance,tangential dynamic friction coefficient, stiffness coefficient, and the number and distribution of the clearance, thereby, proposing ways to reduce clearance influence.From mechanism design to analysis, and determining design parameters by the results ofthe analysis, mechanism design method in this paper, provides a valuable reference for thespace plane mechanism design. The simulation results will also provide an important basis forsubsequent optimization design work.
