After the Wenchuan earthquake in2008, the problem of seismic fortification hasbecome a hot topic which attracts the experts and researchers’ attention. According tosurveys, the early building could not meet the requirements of seismic fortification atpresent due to the low design standard at that time, leading to severe damages and losses.Based on the above reasons, the state issued a new seismic design code. So, it isnecessary to evaluate the seismic capacity of the early buildings on the basis of the newcode. If they could not meet the requirements, then they need to be reinforced so as toreduce the causalities and property losses in greatest degree. In recent years, the reinforcement techniques have been developing rapidly at home. The steel reinforcement has been attached great significance by researchers andconstructors, since it has the advantages as short hardening time, little space occupation, simple craft, firm pasting, balanced stress over other techniques.Several commonly used methods of strengthening concrete structure are discussed indetail. A kindergarten with two floors built in2005is utilized as a model, through thedesign process, the basic assumptions, calculation theory, calculation method, selectionof reinforced method and reinforced construction method of reinforcement design arereviewed. Based on the specialty of the building, firstly, the model of reinforcementstructure is set by using the finite element analysis software SAP2000before and afterreinforcement, which is adopted to carry on the static elastoplastic analysis, so as toevaluate its seismic capacity, and then compares the result of analysis. next, the model isimported into Perform-3D, which is utilized to carry on the dynamic elastoplasticanalysis, so as to evaluate the seismic capacity; finally, compare the static elastoplasticanalysis with dynamic elastoplastic analysis on two parameters of relative storeydisplacement and floor displacement. The conclusion that the results of the dynamicelastic-plastic analysis are larger than the results of static elastoplastic analysis is got.
